Our MISSION
Southern California Mapua Alumni (SCMA) is a non-profit charitable tax-exempt organization of Southern California residents who are alumni of the Mapua Institute of Technology (now Mapua University) in Manila.

Our Mission is two-fold:

- Provide scholarships to deserving but underprivileged students of Mapua University and other students.
- Provide career advancement assistance with free California Engineering Registration review classes and other services to deserving but disadvantaged individuals.
OUR HISTORY
In the summer of 1976, a group of seven Mapua Institute of Technology alumni gathered at Griffith Park, Los Angeles, California, to discuss the possibility of forming an alumni association. At the time, their main purpose was to help newly migrated Mapuans adjust to life in America and find engineering jobs, especially at LA County Department of Public Works, where several of them were employed. In the following year (1977), the Association of Southern California Mapua Alumni was born, and a program to give scholarships to struggling but smart Mapua students was started. To this day, the spirit of helping fellow Mapuans in their careers and giving scholarships to disadvantaged but deserving Mapua students remains and has expanded and grown to include other disadvantaged individuals in the community.
